At Front Porch, we are committed to employing a tillage system that is efficient and harmonious with the needs of the land. This person will work directly with the Equipment Operations Manager to achieve the needs of the farm week-to-week. They will be trained to use our different tractors, tools, and implements and should expect to grow in autonomy after the initial training period. The majority of time will be spent in the fields: mowing, discing, spading, harrowing, prepping beds, undercutting, sowing cover crop, and cultivating. They will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance of our tractors and vehicles as well as our work spaces. With any spare time, this person will join the vegetable and berry harvest crew. Looking for a multiple-season committment. On-site, single occupancy housing is included.
❏ Receives a weekly task list and budgets time to ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely fashion
❏ Checks and monitors soil moisture to ensure tillage is happening at the right time
❏ Responsible for assisting in the maintenance of our tractors and vehicles as well as our work spaces
❏ Rotating weekend work: Greenhouse watering, U-Pick events on farm
❏ Minimum of one season experience operating farm machinery
❏ Experience servicing equipment is a plus
❏ Self-starter with excellent time management
Our goal is to support team members in developing and deepening their skills, with opportunities to continue to grow with the farm over many seasons. Start date is position-specific in the Spring of 2020. We will begin interviewing for positions in December.
