In the vegetable operation, we work year-round to supply our produce and fruit at 3 weekly Farmers’ Markets in San Rafael and Healdsburg, as well as to chefs and grocery stores through our local wholesaler F.E.E.D Sonoma. We grow over 40 different crops, with some standouts including strawberries, blackberries, heirloom & cherry tomatoes, lettuces, sweet peppers, and specialty garlic. We specialize in heat-loving crops in the summer and rely on storage crops and season extension techniques to maintain a bounty throughout all four seasons. We are committed to growing exceptionally high quality product, crop diversity, and efficient growing practices that build and nurture the soil.
About the position: The vegetable crew member will work on a team of 4+ people from April through November. We will often work together as a team to complete the daily tasks listed below, but this position will also work in small groups or alone. We typically work 9-hour days Monday-Friday. Our weekly workflow is built around our harvest schedule: Mondays & Thursdays we harvest for our wholesale outlets, Wednesdays & Fridays we harvest for market, leaving Tuesdays and any available afternoons for miscellaneous fieldwork tasks. While not required, we are excited about finding someone who is excited about making a multi-season commitment with opportunities for increased pay and responsibility in each successive season. Starting compensation begins at $13/hr (DOE).
Primary Responsibilities:
❏ Harvesting
❏ Post- Harvest Handling: washing, sorting, packing
❏ Fieldwork: planting, weeding, mulching, spraying, and more
❏ Greenhouse work: sowing, thinning, potting up, spraying, pest/disease management
❏ Rotating weekend work: Greenhouse watering, U-Pick events on farm
❏ Potential additional responsibilities: deliveries to restaurants and FEED Sonoma, irrigation, wash/pack shed oversight**

Desired Skills & Experience:
❏ While no experience is necessary, 1+ years experience working on a production farm is preferred. We will gladly train the right candidate.
