Some birds benefit farms by eating pest insects or rodents, while others cause severe damage by eating fruits, seeds, nuts, or other crops. Sometimes the same species can benefit farmers in one season and then cause damage in another. Understanding the complex interactions between birds and farming has challenged growers for centuries. Speakers will highlight their own research into the costs and benefits of birds, and will discuss management options for enhancing pest control and deterring damage.
