Farming Together: Lessons from Worker Cooperative Farms

Learn about cooperatives and the realities of worker cooperative farming – from how to get started to how to operate a sustainable, equitable business. Hear from South Central L.A. farmers who ran a co-op for 10 years. Speakers will address the challenges of working with a farm and value-added processor benefiting rural and urban farmers. Follow the steps the Foothill Cooperative Farming Initiative took to build their small-acreage worker cooperative vegetable and orchard farm. Cody Curtis is co-founder of the Foothill Cooperative Farming Initiative in the Sierra Nevada foothills. Mai Nguyen is from the California Center for Cooperative Development.
