With increased public interest in keeping bees, issues are arising that require further research and action. A group of beekeepers in Marin, Napa, and Sonoma counties are now sharing the results of treatment-free management. Rob Keller is active in this group, and educates children and adults on the intricacies of home beekeeping. Commercial beekeeper/researcher/author Randy Oliver is heavily involved with bee breeding and selection to raise bees with enhanced natural immunity to Varroa mite, diseases, and colony collapse. He is also working with the Environment Protection Agency to register an organic natural miticide for bees.
