Many of us are familiar with CSAs, where customers pre-pay a farmer to help fund an upcoming harvest. What about going a step further and inviting customers to loan money or buy shares in a farm enterprise? Learn about two agricultural organizations that are raising investments through a method known as a direct public offering, or DPO. One organization is growing its revolving loan fund for beginning farmers; the other is creating a community food hub. Learn about the experiences, successes and challenges in using a DPO to raise funds, as well as how to prepare and advertise a DPO and how best to use it to cultivate relationships with investors.
