WWOOF: Growing Your Farm by Growing Young Farmers

After 10 years of hosting more than 500 “Wwoofers” and interns from similar organizations, the Kern Family Farm will share stories and photos of the wonderful parade of humanity that’s been a big part of building their farm and homestead. They’ll talk about what’s worked and what hasn’t, and why what these young interns lack in experience, they make up for with enthusiasm and inspiration. They’ll also share what they’ve learned and applied in relation to the legal aspects of farm internships, such as housing, payroll taxes and Workers Compensation, as well as tips on scheduling, and how to maintain some family privacy. Jack Whettam, an intern, will speak about what the time on their farm has meant to him.
