Imports of fraudulent organic grain, facilitated by inept certifiers from overseas and corrupt foreign exporters, are crippling the U.S. organic grain industry. Farmers are experiencing loan denials, equipment repossessions, and low pay prices, leading to heartbreaking family discord. Despite the massive organic community outcry, USDA has not closed regulatory loopholes for transitioning cows into organic herds. More robust enforcement actions are needed to maintain the integrity of this $52.5 billion industry.
