There’s a revolution taking place that could change the way healthcare works in the United States. Food as medicine is not a new idea, but getting doctors to prescribe it and insurance companies to pay for it: this is certainly something new! Hear from collaborators who address chronic diseases by providing access to higher quality food. We can address most chronic diseases in this country by targeting one of their main causes, and providing access to healthy organic food. Healthcare organizations need to focus on food quality and procurement standards that support organic farmers and farmworkers. Learn how organizations, doctors, hospitals, insurance companies, and farmers are working together to create a new model that prescribes organic food as medicine.
