Minimizing Soil Disturbance in Organic Systems, Part II: Equipment and Methods

This workshop will focus on the “how-to” innovations and the “yet-to-be-resolved” hurdles related to technology and timing for reducing tillage and using cover crops to build soil health. The head researcher and two innovative farmers from the CIG team will explore innovations in methods, timing, equipment, and what needs attention. Topics will include mechanized reduced tillage, crimpers and rollers, specialized seeders and transplanters to plant high residue systems, bed shapers and cultivators for the same, cover crop innovations to assist reduced tillage, and more. Successes and failures will be shared. This topic is hot, and this is the group creating the heat!
