Those familiar with the history of the organic farming movement will recognize its foundation in the traditional soil-nurturing practices brought from the indigenous world to an industrial world very much in need of direction by Sir Albert Howard in the first half of the 20th century. Indigenous management systems transcend the perceived distinction between nature and agriculture. They provide a time-tested model for sustainable land stewardship. This session offers an indigenous perspective on land management. The speakers will identify spiritual values, look at indigenous technologies, consider natural & community law, recognize the ancestors, and acknowledge controversies as we share the story of Traditional Ecological Knowledge in the world today.
