Wayside Farm School (WFS) has grown to include four instructors, four crew leaders and more than 60 inmate students. Focusing on the culture of farming, organic production, direct marketing and the academics of growing food, Wayside Farm School provides working, farm-based instruction to a unique student population with diverse ethnicities, ages, and socio-economic backgrounds. Wayside Farm School is a partnership between LA Sheriff’s Department and Five Keys Schools and Programs and strives to transform individuals, families, and communities. WFS is working toward creation of an incubator that provides owner/operator opportunities for graduates and is changing the face of farming in Southern California.
