Botany of Produce: Understanding the Plants We Grow and Eat

Food is necessary for life to exist. Much of our time on this planet is devoted to thinking about food, hunting and gathering it (now called farming and shopping), or preparing and consuming it. The time is ripe to celebrate food for the central role it plays in our lives. It is a magical, precious gift from nature, one not to be taken lightly. This workshop provides a starting point for an exploration into the fascinating world of the plants we grow and eat. In this abridged Agricultural Botany course, you will learn about vegetable and fruit plant families that are commonly grown by farmers and carried in American grocery stores.
