Weeds are a valuable tool for testing your soil. Learn to read them as dynamic and sensitive indicators of growing conditions in your field. Ron Whitehurst has been building a database of indicator properties that can be used to tune into what’s going on in the soil. We will walk around and identify weeds growing on the Asilomar grounds, harvesting some to sample raw and cooked. We will discuss the use of weeds for food, medicine, and play. Specific weed information is now available in Ron’s database, enabling everyone to learn and use this skill. The database will be distributed to attendees.
