Queering Ecology: Toward a World View that Affirms All Life

Mainstream understandings of botany and ecology have been used to justify violence against queer, trans, indigenous and people of color, female, disabled and otherwise marginalized bodies. The field of queer ecology seeks to re-imagine the natural world in a way that values and affirms all life. In this workshop, we will examine the colonial history of botany and ecology as justifications for oppression. We will use the tools of queer ecology to interrogate and shift our understanding of the world beyond humans.
