Climate Change Policy: What Do Farmers Need?

Farmers across the country are struggling to cope with the devastating impacts of climate change from floods, fires, heat waves, and drought. Subtle temperature increases will enhance insect and weed pressure on farms, alter chill hours, and may make entire regions inhospitable to current styles of farming. Some members of the organic/regenerative agriculture community see opportunities for public policy to secure financial resources that support farmers in adapting to climate change and turning farms into carbon sinks. Join us for a discussion and listening session about current climate and agriculture policies at the state and federal level. Share your ideas about how we can use government policies to facilitate the transition to a more climate-resilient, just, and economically viable food and farming system.
