Grow a Triple Bottom Line with Food Justice Certification

Consumers are looking for more than the lowest price. The marketplace increasingly demands ethically and environmentally sound food.  The public wants to support farms and businesses that price fairly, pay living wages, and treat workers with dignity and respect. Hear Jason Freeman of Farmer Direct Co-operative—a group of 60 organic family farms that were the first to receive the “Food Justice Certified” domestic fair-trade certification—explain how the market is responding across North America. Agricultural Justice Project co-founder Michael Sligh will speak about the stakeholder process that forged high-bar social justice standards for Food Justice Certification. Join us immediately after the presentation for a participatory standards-setting discussion.
