Farmland is disappearing, fast. Luckily, land trusts increasingly use agricultural conservation easements to address this pressing issue. Our panelists will describe a wide range of possibilities – from easements that simply recognize agricultural values and prevent incompatible development, to easements that prioritize specific farming practices and ensure continued farming on the property. Hear the perspectives of the Peninsula Open Space Trust (the holder of many agricultural conservation easements), an owner of a protected farm, and a conservation attorney who helps finalize these transactions.
