Investing in Local Ag/Food Economy for Regional Resilience

The Bay Area’s rich and diverse food system is an integral part of the region’s economic prosperity, environmental sustainability, regional identity, and vibrant cultural life. But it cannot be taken for granted. Like many metro-regions, the Bay Area is now addressing vulnerabilities in its food value chain – especially the production, distribution and processing sectors. The goal is a strengthened local food system that will be a cornerstone of regional resilience in the face of climate change, and a key driver for a more localized and equitable economy. Speakers will present innovative, replicable approaches that catalyze strategic investments in the region’s critical ag resources and its vulnerable food supply-chain sectors.
